After having frozen almost to the ground a few years ago, the Meyer Lemons and satsumas are having a slam-dunk year. The rains of the flood might have helped...and the dry spell we're having certainly does help in sweetening and preventing rot....altogether a good harvest! I keep picking and juicing satsumas....in ice trays to pop out into bags for the freezer...I was having great fun with this....and Will was thinking it was kind of a waste, I mean...'what are we going to do with that?'...and after making a couple of Satsuma reduction sauces while cooking has, of course, changed his mind.
But he did convince me to fill a constantly-refreshed pitcher of juice for the fridge. Better than anything you can buy in the orange-juice category for sure.
This is just another of those things that are exciting at first but can become tedious if you don't push through. So I'm pushing....
PS: Satsuma ice cubes in your adult beverage isn't a shabby thing either....
